Ilene Jacobsen Obituary
Ilene Isabell Jacobsen, age 81, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Monday, August 10, 2020, at a local care center. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2020, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown, SD.
Pastor Cheryl Rondeau-Bassett will officiate. Music will be provided by Ilene's grandchildren, Andrew and Emily Marotz. Family is requested to meet at the chapel by 10 a.m. for a family prayer service.
Visitation will be at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Friday, August 14, 2020, from 5-7 p.m. and prior to the service at the chapel on Saturday.
Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown. Honorary pallbearers will be: Chris Stein, Bill Ruby, Mark Marotz, Mike Marotz, Gary Bransrud, Brad Hoaas, James Marotz, Brett Moeller and Scott Jensen. Active Pallbearers will be her grandchildren: Trevor Marotz, Aaron Marotz, Justin Marotz, Breanna Marotz, Andrew Marotz, Matthew Marotz, Emily Marotz, Tanner Marotz, Tyler Marotz, Amanda Marotz-Voelker and Tara Jorgenson.
Ilene was born on November 22, 1938, in Ortley, SD, to Ralph and Josephine (Bosch) Peeper. She attended rural country school and later graduated from Waubay High School in 1956. Following graduation she attended college in Minneapolis, MN.
In 1957, Ilene married Gerald Marotz and to this union three children were born. Later the couple divorced and she moved to Watertown, SD. Ilene worked for Watertown Monument Works for more than 30 years. In November of 1986, Ilene was united in marriage to Floyd "Jake" Jacobsen. Together they operated J&D Enterprises in Rauville, SD. Upon retiring and after Jake's passing, she enjoyed spending time with family and scrapbooking by using pictures and cutting articles from the newspaper and books.
In 2017, she moved into Jenkins Living Center.
Ilene is survived by her sons, Brian (Jodie) Marotz, of Watertown, SD, Gary Marotz and Joel Marotz, both of Sioux Falls, SD; eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Ilene was preceded in death by her husbands and her parents, Ralph and Josephine Peeper.
