Ira “Ike” Leo Davis, age 75, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Monday, February 8, 2021, at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 17, 2021, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown. Pastor Steve Biswell will officiate. The service will be Live-streamed on our website and Facebook Live.
Visitation will be at the chapel on Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. Face masks are required for both the service and visitation.
Burial will be at the Goodwin Cemetery. Military graveside honors will be conducted by Codington County Post #17 of the American Legion, Watertown and the Funeral Honors Team of the U.S. Navy. Active pallbearers are: Florian Davis, Phillip Davis, Richard Moe, Terry Davis, Garret Davis, and Jeff Davis.
Ike was born on February 18, 1945, to Ira and Viola (Underhill) Davis, in Watertown. After graduating from high school, Ike enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving from 1962 – 1966 in the Vietnam War. On March 18, 1967, Ike was united in marriage to Virginia Brist and the couple moved to Minneapolis, MN. They were blessed with four children, Robin in October 1967, Ira Jr. in August 1969, Trevor in May 1971 and Mandley in 1976. The couple moved to Wadena, MN in 1974, where Ike attended technical college to become a draftsman. In 1976 he began driving semi-truck for Midwest Motor Express in Minneapolis, MN. They moved to Wallace, SD in 1977, then to Watertown, where he began his own car hauling business as well as driving coast to coast for various companies. Ike loved taking his children and grandchildren over the road with him in his truck. His favorite thing to do was spend time with his family, hugging his children and grandkids.
Ike is survived by his wife, Virginia of Watertown, SD; his children: Robin (Darrick) Moe of Maple Grove, MN, Ira Davis, Jr. of Watertown, SD, Trevor (Ute) Davis of Hohenfels, Germany and Mandley (Brenda) Davis of Sioux Falls, SD; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Mike Davis of Watertown, SD and Mark Davis of Omaha, NE; and two sisters, LaVae Schwalm of Sioux Falls, SD and Linda Walsh of Brookings, SD.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Donovan Davis and LeRoy Davis; his sisters, Leola Boomgaarden and LuAnn Kroschale.
