Jack Pownell Obituary
Jack L. Pownell, age 63, of Watertown, SD, formerly of Wolsey, SD, passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2020, at his residence.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 4, 2020, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel.
Pastor Fawn Lamb will officiate. The family is requested to meet at the chapel by 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be at the chapel on Tuesday, prior to the service, starting at 9:00 a.m. Jack was born on July 11, 1956, in Huron, SD, to Clinton and Velma (Anderson) Pownell.
He graduated from Wolsey High School in 1975 and joined the United States Army on August 13, 1975. Jack was honorably discharged on October 11, 1980.
He then spent 17 years serving with the 1742nd Transportation Company with the South Dakota National Guard.
Jack was a truck driver for several different trucking companies throughout the years following his discharge from the United States Army.
Jack is survived by his children: Derick Pownell of Granite Falls, MN, Madalyn, Jacqueline, and Jennifer; grandchildren Kimberlynn and Daxton Pownell, Montana, Logan, and Rosie; his sisters Florence Schoon of Brookings, SD, and Melva Beals of Wolsey, SD; his brothers Robert (Donna) Pownell of Huron, SD, Darrell (Renee) Pownell, and Garrell (Kay) Pownell both of Watertown, SD.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton and Velma Pownell; his son Matthew Pownell; his sister Pam Messerschmidt; his sister-in-law Connie Pownell; and his brother-in-law Duane Beals.
