Jolene Stolp Obituary

Jolene Kathryn Stolp, age 61, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2022, surrounded by her family.  Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown.  Father Richard Fox will officiate.

Visitation will be at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Monday, November 21, 2022, from 5-7 p.m. and prior to services at the chapel on Tuesday.

Burial will be at Pleasant View Cemetery in Hayti, SD.  Pallbearers are Wayne Walder, Mike Stolp, Keith Stolp, Tom Walder, Tristan Stolp and Ben Zrucky.

Jolene was born on October 12, 1961, to Richard and Lydell (Opdahl) Walder in Hayti, SD. She graduated from Hamlin High School in 1979 & competed in volleyball and basketball.  Following graduation, she moved to Watertown, SD. On February 14, 1981, she married Mark G. Stolp at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She worked at Smith Equipment for 20+ years and was proud to be a machinist.

Jolene was a caring daughter, a loving wife, a dedicated mother to her three children, and adoring grandma to her seven grandchildren. She enjoyed bowling and golfing, competing in local leagues for many years. Jolene loved watching her favorite shows especially reality competitions and sitcoms and was still a loyal The Young & the Restless and Survivor fan. She liked her sweets and loved treating her kids and grandkids to homemade chocolate chip cookies, chocolate caramel brownies, and scotch-a-roo bars. Her grandkids were her true joy and she wanted them around whenever possible, teaching them the ‘tick song’ and sneaking them extra treats.

Jolene is survived by her husband, Mark Stolp of Watertown, SD; her children: Mike (Darcy) Stolp of Watertown, SD, Traci Stolp (Ben Zrucky) of Cleveland, MN, and Keith Stolp of Watertown; her mother, Lydell Walder of Hayti, SD; father & mother in-law, Gordon and Joyce Stolp of Watertown, SD; brothers, Wayne Walder of Hayti, SD, and Tom (Samantha) Walder of Tea, SD; sisters, Cindy (Gary) Brugman of Watertown, SD, and Paula (Greg) Johnson of Watertown, SD; sisters in-law, Kim (Bret) Johnson of Vermillion, SD, and Shari (Scott) Mayne of Vermillion, SD; seven grandchildren: Tristan, Mara, Keagan, Evianna, Maxten, Kyla, & Taevyn; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Richard (Dick) Walder; her sister, Michelle “Shelly” Ries; her brother, Steven Walder; her paternal grandparents, Max and Gladyce Walder; maternal grandparents, Howard and Agnes Opdahl; and a lifetime worth of cats and dogs.

Thank you for being a friend!
