Judy E. Schmidt, age 68, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2020, at her home surrounded by family.
Private family funeral services will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 20, 2020, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel.
Funeral services will be live streamed.
Pastor Luke Smith will officiate.
Music will be provided by Amy Schmidt as soloist. A public drive through visitation will take place on Sunday, April 19, 2020, from 4:00-5:00 p.m. at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown, SD. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mike VanDykhorst, Joey Sokolosky along with all of Judy's friends.
Active pallbearers will be Andy Gordon, Tyler Basye, Trajan Schmidt, Jim Bunde and Roger Bunde. Judy was born on November 2, 1951, in Watertown, SD, to Cecil and Doris (Boyd) Bunde.
She graduated from Watertown High School in 1970 then went on to attend college in Mankato, MN. On January 6, 1973, Judy married Al Schmidt in Watertown, SD.
She worked as a bookkeeper for Spies and later opened Schmidt Daycare, which she enjoyed operating for 28 years.
After retiring, Judy and Al spent the last six years wintering in Apache Junction, AZ. Judy enjoyed babysitting and attending her grandchildren's activities.
She liked doing yoga and adored dirt track racing.
Judy and her family have spent nearly every Sunday at Casino Speedway in Watertown. Judy is survived by her husband, Al of Watertown, SD; her children, Jay (Amy) Schmidt of Watertown, SD, and Brooke (Andy) Gordon of Murdock, MN; five grandchildren: Tyler, Trajan, Reese, Ayson and Brityn; and two brothers, Jim Bunde and Roger (Laura) Bunde, all of Watertown, SD. Judy was preceded in death by her parents.
