Karen K. Ratigan, age 68, of Hayti, SD, passed away on Monday, November 23, 2020, at her home. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 28, 2020, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown, SD. Rev. Dan Ofstehage will officiate. The service will be Live-Streamed on our website and Facebook Live. The family is requested to meet at the chapel by 9:30 a.m. for a family prayer service.
Visitation will be on Friday at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Hayti, SD, from 5-7 p.m. Face coverings are highly encouraged for both the visitation and funeral service.
Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Estelline, SD.
Pallbearers will be Gary Saathoff, Dan Knox, Rick Ratigan, Robert Ratigan, Jeff Ratigan, and Mike Ratigan.
Karen was born on March 18, 1952, to William and Gladys (Roehs) Saathoff, in Clear Lake, SD. She was a 1970 graduate of Castlewood High School. She then attended Lake Area Technical Institute, where she received her Cosmetology Degree. Karen was united in marriage to Gene Ratigan. They lived in Spearfish, SD and later in Doland, SD, where she was a hairdresser. They later moved to Hayti where she has owned her own beauty shop. Karen was currently working at Jutting's Grocery in Hayti.
She was currently attending Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer. She enjoyed being a 4-H leader when her boys were younger. She also loved her bowling teams, and enjoyed playing Bingo. Karen especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren's events and concerts.
Karen is survived by her two sons, Mike (Alli) Ratigan of Mitchell, SD and Jeff Ratigan of Hayti, SD; nine grandchildren; one brother, Gary (Monica) Saathoff of Watertown, SD; and three sisters: Diane (Ron) Peterson of Watertown, SD, Sharon (Martin) Heck of Watertown, SD, and Peggy (John) Steen of Brookings, SD.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Dean.
