Kathryn McElroy Obituary
Kathryn "Kathy" McElroy, age 89, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Friday, November 13, 2020, at Jenkins Living Center. A private family funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 18, 2020, at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Watertown. The celebrant will be Father John Fischer.
Music will be provided by Jane Jaspers as organist with Blaine Martian as song leader. The service will be Live-Streamed via Facebook Live and uploaded to our YouTube page. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Watertown, SD. Active pallbearers will be Owen McElroy, Landon McElroy, Matt Meyer, Eric Sheehan, Andrew Meyer, Nick Cochran, Nick Smith, and Roman Altamirano.
Kathy was born on June 22, 1931, in Armour, SD, to Clarence and Elizabeth (Robinson) Leonard.
She attended school and graduated from Armour High School.
She went on to attend Southern State Teachers college in Springfield where she met Gerald McElroy.
On August 16, 1954, Kathy married Gerald at Armour, SD.
The two moved to Tripp, SD, for three years, then Woonsocket, SD, for four years eventually moving to Watertown.
Kathy enjoyed going to coffee with friends and especially enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Kathy is survived by her children, Patty (Mike) Sheehan, Kathy McElroy, Bob (Lori) McElroy, Dan (Wanda) McElroy, and Mary (Duane) Meyer; her brothers, James Leonard, Dennis Leonard, and Larry Leonard; her sisters, Mary Weerheim, Doris Anderson, Colleen Rickert, and Margie Whetham; nine grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
Kathy was preceded in death by her husband, her parents; her brothers, Leo Leonard, Jerry Leonard; and her sister, Emily Flakus.
