Keith S. Larson, age 85, of De Smet, SD, passed away on Friday, November 18, 2022, at the Huron Regional Medical Center. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at American Lutheran Church in De Smet, SD. Rev. Jonathan Dolan will officiate. The service will be livestreamed via the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel website.
Visitation will be at American Lutheran Church in De Smet on Friday, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. as well as on Saturday, prior to services at the church.
Burial will be at the De Smet Cemetery in De Smet, SD.
Keith was born in De Smet, SD, on December 12, 1936, to Elmer and Evelyn (Berg) Larson. In 1954, Keith graduated from De Smet High School after which he joined the National Guard. Upon returning to De Smet from basic training, he continued working on the family farm. On September 7, 1958, Keith and Marlys Noethlich were united in marriage at American Lutheran Church in De Smet, SD. Keith farmed up until he couldn’t anymore north of De Smet near Spirit Lake.
He was a proud member of the American Lutheran Church, American Legion, and Lions Club. He also loved spending time with his family whether it was supporting his grandchildren at sporting events or playing with his great-grandchildren at home. He loved his cattle and cherished his farm. Keith was a very generous and kind hearted man that will be deeply missed.
Keith is survived by his wife, Marlys of De Smet, SD; children: Paul Larson of De Smet, SD, and Renae (David) Collins of Wood, SD; grandsons: Matthew (Katelyn Timp) Larson and Kalan Collins; great-grandchildren: Hayden and Hunter Larson; sister, Bernadine Crown; sister-in-law, Judith Noethlich; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Evelyn (Berg) Larson, brothers-in-law: Charles Crown, Donald Noethlich, and Laurel Noethlich; and parents-in-law: LeRoy and Florence Noethlich.
