During his service he was awarded the National Defense Good Conduct, United Nations and Korean Service medals. After being honorably discharged, Bounce was employed at the South Dakota Department of Transportation. He married Sharlee Moen on March 11, 1956, and to this union four children were born. Bounce later was employed at FJ McLaughlin Company.
Bounce married Geri Langenfeld on January 3, 1981 in Watertown, SD, where they made their home until his death. Bounce continued his employment with FJ McLaughlin Company until his retirement in April of 1997.
Bounce was a member of the American Legion, Grace Lutheran Church and served on the Civil Service Board of Codington County for several years. In 2016, Bounce received the Official Proclamation “Ambassador For Peace” awarded by the Minister of the Republic of Korea.
Bounce enjoyed hunting. He and Geri enjoyed living on Lake Kampeska, fishing, dining out and going to the casino. They especially enjoyed every Christmas Eve hosting their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their home for 39 years. A scrumptious meal was prepared by head chef Bounce, and assistant, Geri, for their loving family. The children came from far and near looking forward to making more great memories, including Christmas of 2019. Bounce was a great cook and quite a jokester to the grandkids. Each grandchild looked forward to unwrapping the unknown treasure grandpa had chosen especially for each of them that year.
Bounce is survived by his wife, Geri of 39 years; children Kelly Mohror of Tacoma, WA; Tammi (Perry) Johnson of Cypress, TX; Scott (Jeri) Mohror of Brookings, SD; Jill Brown of Rapid City, SD; Kimberly Steen (Greg Gross) of Watertown, SD; and Tim Langenfeld of Sioux Falls, SD; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Delores Carlson of Arlington, SD, and Bonnie Beach of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; one brother, Lionel (Darlene) Mohror of Shakopee, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
Bounce was preceded in death by his parents, his brother and wife, Clarence J. “CJ” (Pat) Mohror, his sister Irene Rovang, brothers-in-law Martin Beach and Wes Carlson; niece Karen Fenner and nephew Jay Beach.
Memorials may be made to Prairie Lakes Hospice, Joy Ranch or Grace Lutheran Church.
