Larry Meseberg Obituary

Larry William Meseberg, age 67, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2020, at Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD from heart and kidney failure.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2020, at St. Martin's Lutheran Church in Watertown, SD.

Pastor Paul Janke will officiate.

Music will be provided by Karen Livingston as organist.

The family is requested to meet at the church on Saturday by 12:30 p.m. for a prayer service.

Visitation will be at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Friday, January 31, 2020, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. and prior to services at the church on Saturday.

Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown.

Honorary pallbearers will be Larry's Godchildren: Chasidy Mack, Jody Roberts, and Danielle Wientjes along with L Dee's fanclub.

Active pallbearers will be: Casey Meseberg, Chad Walkins, Jarrod Koustrup, Derek Meseberg, Dustin Meseberg, Levi Jackan, Doug Nygaard and Daniel Meseberg.

Larry was born on November 21, 1952, in Watertown, SD, to LaVern and Delores (Currey) Meseberg.

He attended Rauville #26 country school and then went to Waverly Schools through his junior year.

He graduated from Watertown High School in 1971.

On July 7, 1973, Larry married Connie Toering at St. Martin's Lutheran Church in Watertown.

The couple made their home on the family farm where Larry farmed with his Dad and brother. Larry also worked for Olin for 10 years.

His brother and him started Meseberg Brothers Dairy in 1984 and retired from milking in 2009.

He was currently working with feeder cattle with his son Lonnie and nephew Derek. Larry and his siblings started the L Dee's band in January of 1969.

The band played for 30 years then only for occasional special events.

He was baptized and confirmed at St. Martin's Lutheran Church in Watertown.

He was an avid fan of the Minnesota Twins, the Minnesota Vikings and Nascar.

He enjoyed western movies, country music, attending concerts and watching cattle auctions.

In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking and found joy in watching his children play sports.

Larry is survived by his wife, Connie, of Watertown, SD; his children: Lonnie (Angie) Meseberg of Goodwin, SD, Carrie Meseberg and Lee Ann Meseberg, both of Watertown, SD, and Casey Meseberg of Sioux Falls, SD; his grandson, Cameron Meseberg of Sioux Falls, SD, along with his granddogs, Zoey and Maggie; his sisters, Dianne (Bud) Walkins and LaDonna (Joey) Koustrup, both of Watertown, SD; his sisters-in-law, Sherri Meseberg and Vicky (Tim) Jackan both of Watertown, SD, Wanda (Dale) Claymore of Black Hawk, SD, and Lori Nygaard of Sioux Falls, SD; and many nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, LaVern and Delores Meseberg; his brother, Darwin Meseberg; his in-laws, Sam Toering and Janet Toering; his brother-in-law, Larry Toering; his grandparents, aunts and uncles; and his granddogs, Hunter, Sadie, Harley and Cocoa.
