LeMoyne "Lee" A. Jackson

LeMoyne “Lee” A. Jackson, age 82, of Watertown, SD, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 26, 2021, at the Good Samaritan Society in Clear Lake, SD. Memorial services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown, SD. Pastor Steve Biswell will officiate.

Visitation will take place prior to the memorial service from 12:00-1:00 p.m.

Private family graveside services will take place at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Military graveside honors will be provided by the Military Funeral Honors Team of the SD Army National Guard and the Codington County Post #17 of the American Legion, Watertown. Honorary pallbearers will be Lee's former co-workers at Terex.

Lee was born on July 14, 1939 in Fairfield, WA to LeMoyne William Jackson and Pauline (Voegele) Jackson. When he was a small boy his mother moved him and his brother back to Roscoe, South Dakota and later married Art Kolb, giving Lee a stepbrother and stepsister. Lee went to country grade school before working for local farmers and a combine crew. After, he lived with an aunt and uncle in California until he entered the Army, serving for 6 years.

After serving, Lee worked on road construction bringing him to Watertown, South Dakota, where he met and married the love of his life, Phyllis (Schafer) Regnier, in 1975. Through Phyllis, he became a proud stepfather to Phyllis’ daughter, Peggy. His pride and love for his family only grew stronger with his grandchildren and great-grandson.

Lee was an active member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He held all local offices, eventually becoming president of the North Dakota and South Dakota bi-state region in 1993-1994. Lee was employed at Minnesota Rubber and then Terex Telelect for 25 years. After his retirement, he worked part time for the Big Sioux Nursery. He was an active member of both the Watertown Grace Point Church and Senior Center where he enjoyed fellowship and senior games. Lee was an avid gardener and enjoyed sharing his produce with the local nursing home and his neighbors. He also enjoyed woodworking and painting.

Lee was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Pauline and Art Kolb; father, LeMoyne William Jackson; brother, Jim Jackson; and stepbrother, LeRoy Kolb.

Lee is survived by his wife, Phyllis; stepdaughter, Peggy (Robert) Constant of Bozeman, MT; granddaughter, Katherine King of Bloomington, MN; grandson, Houston (Amy) King of Bozeman, MT; and great-grandson, Theodore King of Bozeman MT. He is also survived by siblings: Rick (Judy) Jackson, Mable (John) Baumgartner, Jeannie Jackson, Don (Vickie) Schafer, Nancy O’Halloran, Sue Ann Anderson, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
