Lila Jorgenson Obituary
Lila P. Jorgenson, age 87, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2016, at a care center in Watertown. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 7, 2016, at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown.
Rev. Janet Miller will officiate. Music will be provided by Marcia Jelsma as organist with Judy Everson as soloist. The family is requested to meet at the chapel on Wednesday by 10:00 a.m. for a prayer service.
Visitation will be at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. and prior to services at the chapel on Wednesday.
Burial will be at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown. Honorary pallbearers will be Lila's granddaughters and all of her friends at the Hi-Rise. Active pallbearers will be her grandsons: Chris Kuemper, Cory Kuemper, Cody Jorgenson, Dusty Jorgenson, Cory Benck, Tyler Johnson and Troy Benson.
Lila was born on April 8, 1929, on a farm near Pierpont, SD, to Clifford and Selma R. (Anderson) Shervey. She attended country school and graduated in 1947 from Langford High School, Langford, SD.
On December 26, 1952, Lila married Kenneth Jorgenson at Bristol, SD. She did office work in Webster and Britton, SD, and she was a bookkeeper for the couple's business, Ken's Auto, from 1970 to 1999.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, the VFW Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary. Lila enjoyed solving word and crossword puzzles and playing Bingo. She loved spending time with her family.
Lila is survived by her three children: Kerry (Donna) Jorgenson, Cindy Kuemper and Kim (Deb) Jorgenson all of Watertown; seven grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one grandson, Robert Jorgenson; her parents; and two brothers, Elmer and Claire.
