Lois White Obituary
Lois Eleanor (Krause) White, age 91, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2020, at Prairie Lakes Hospital. A Public Funeral Mass will be at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2020, at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. Fr. Michael Wensing will be the celebrant. Music will be provided by Laura Atwood as organist. The service will also be Live-Streamed. The family is requested to meet by 1:00 p.m. at the church for a family prayer service.
A Public Walk-thru visitation will be on Friday at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel from 5-7 p.m.
Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Greg Dumke, Greg White, Paul White, Richard White, Carl White, Jake Krantz. Special honorary pallbearers will be Dave & Marvey Satter, Wayne & Wendy Kluver, Doug & Lynn Sharp, John & Lorna Stonebarger.
Lois was born on September 3, 1928, to Elmer and Bessie (Kannas) Krause, in Hamlin County. After graduating from Clear Lake High School Class of ‘46 and then the Watertown Beauty Academy, she opened her hair salon, Castlewood Beauty Shop, in Castlewood. On January 15, 1949, Lois was united in marriage to Alvin "Al" White. The couple moved to Watertown where she owned and operated White's Beauty Shop for 55 years.
She was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church and a former member of the Watertown Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Lois enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, dancing, hunting, fishing, living at the lake, and attending her children's and grandchildren's events. She also enjoyed annual winter trips to Arizona with family and friends. Lois cherished all her life-long friendships, especially her fellow "Cardinal" cheerleaders.
Lois is survived by her husband, Al of Watertown, SD; her children, Lonnie (Sharon) White of Colorado Springs, CO, and Connie (Roger) Johnson of Watertown, SD; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; her daughter-in-law, Ardis White of Watertown, SD; and her sister, Audrey (Larry) Dumke of Maplewood, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, John White.
Lois was deeply loved by family and friends and will be greatly missed by all. The family would ask that memorials may be made at your discretion in lieu of flowers during these uncertain times.
