Marian Cordell Obituary
Marian J. Cordell, age 81, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2020, at a local care center. A Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2020, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Fr. Richard Fox will be the celebrant. Music will be provided by Helen Gollnick as organist with Deb Schroeder as cantor. The family is requested to meet at the church by 10:00 a.m. on Saturday for a family prayer service.
Visitation will be at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel on Friday from 5-7 p.m. with a Scripture Wake Service at 6:30 p.m.
Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be the Staff of Edgewood Memory Care. Active pallbearers are: Galen Cordell, Jeff Cordell, Mark Walsh and Pat Gilstad.
Marian was born on February 28, 1939, to William and Delores (Schmidt) Cordell, in Watertown, SD. She attended country school near Rauville, SD. Marian started working as a nurse's aide at St. Ann's Hospital in Watertown. She later began working at Jenkins Living Center, where she worked for many years as a nurse's aide.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church. Marian enjoyed reading, walking and attending church and a lot of the church events. After moving into Edgewood, Marian enjoyed her daily activities and visiting with all of the residents.
Marian is survived by her children, Galen (Pam) Cordell of Watertown, SD, and Jeff (Lynn) Cordell of Carmel, CA; three grandchildren: Brett, Jack and Colleen Cordell; two brothers, Bernard Cordell and Theodore Cordell, both of Watertown, SD; her twin sister, Marie Shepherd of Watertown, SD, her sister, Teresa Waba of Madison, SD; her sister-in-law, Judy Cordell of Watertown, SD; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Milton and Alfred; one stillborn sister; and one brother-in-law, Dale Waba.
