Marlys J. Erickson

Marlys J. Erickson, age 72, of Bryant, SD, passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2021, at the De Smet Good Samaritan Society. Memorial services will be at a later date. Marlys was born on November 11, 1948, to Melvin and Cleo (Teason) Seppanen in Estelline, SD. She graduated from Bryant High School in 1967. After graduation, Marlys spent time working as an aid at the Bryant Elementary School and doing daycare. On December 22, 1973, Marlys married Arthur "Art" Erickson at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bryant, SD. She continued to work in daycare until her daycare kids had grown up. When her own children were born, Marlys continued to be a stay at home mom to raise them. As a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Marlys was also part of the ladies aid. She loved taking care of her children, going to garage sales, and doing puzzles with "Mrs. B". She also enjoyed meals at Perkins and listening to Sunday morning classic country radio. Marlys is survived by her husband, Arthur "Art", of Bryant, SD; a son, Tyler Erickson of Bryant, SD; a daughter, Jordan (Jake) Drotzman of Yankton, SD; a brother, Bill (DeeAnn) Seppanen of Watertown, SD; two sisters, Darla Seppanen (Mike Nelson) of Sioux Falls, SD and Jean (Bryon) Jaqua of Arizona.
