Marvin "Hap" G. Currey

Marvin “Hap” G. Currey, age 86, of Henry, SD, passed away on Friday, October 15, 2021, at the Good Samaritan Society, Deuel County.  Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 22, 2021, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown.  Rev. Paul Janke will officiate.  The service will be live-streamed via our website and on our Facebook page. 

Visitation will be at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Thursday, October 21, 2021, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.

Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown.  Honorary Urnbearers will be Hap’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Active urnbearers will be Ron Currey, Karen Kannas, and Shawn Currey.

Marvin G. Currey was born on October 5, 1935, in Watertown, SD to Charles and Lydia (Miller) Currey.  He was raised in Watertown and graduated from Watertown High School in 1955. 

On June 19, 1955, Marvin married Darlene Bruner at St. Martin’s Lutheran Church in Watertown.  He worked at Sioux Valley Coop and Codington County Highway Department.  He also served on the Watertown City Council.  Marvin enjoyed dancing and hunting ducks, pheasants, and deer with his children. He spent many hours with several woodworking projects which kept him busy.  Blessed be his spirit, he will be missed by many.

Marvin is survived by his children: Ron (LeeAnn) Currey of Watertown, SD, Karen (Dan) Kannas of Watertown, SD, and Shawn Currey of Henry, SD; six grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren.

Marvin was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene Currey; son Donald Currey; daughter Shelly Currey; his parents; three brothers; and four sisters.
