Scott C. Schooley

Scott C. Schooley, age 59, of Castlewood, SD, passed away on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at his mother’s residence from complications due to cancer. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 10, 2021, at Grace Lutheran Church. Rev. Cheryl Rondeau-Bassett will officiate. Music will be provided by Nona Clifford as organist, with Judy Everson as soloist.

Visitation will be at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. and prior to the service at the church on Friday.

Burial will be at a later date at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be all of the employees of Titan Machinery, Gesswein Motors and Kones Korner. Active pallbearers are: Brian Schooley, Ted Schooley, Doug Schooley, Alex Holzwarth, Jim Hunter, Bob Kasten and Chad Schooley.

Scott was born on November 18, 1961, in Watertown, SD, to Charles “Chas” and Dorothy (Seppala) Schooley. He was a 1980 graduate of Castlewood High School. Scott started farming with his father on the family farm in rural Castlewood in the fall of 1981. He was still farming at the time of his death.

Scott was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. He enjoyed attending the Sturgis Rally every year and riding his Harley. He had a love for farming. Scott made sure his machinery was RED and his pick-ups had to be Dodge’s from Gesswein! Scott was a very good football player.  He loved to drive anywhere for a good meal!

Scott is survived by his mother, Dorothy Schooley of Castlewood, SD; his sisters, Beth (Bob) Holzwarth of Hazel, SD and Kay Ward of Watertown, SD; his nephew, Alex Holzwarth of Hazel, SD; his nieces, Molli Ward, Madison Ward and Maci Ward of Watertown, SD; and many aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his father, his brother-in-law, Mark Ward and his Uncle Dean Seppala.
