Shannon Elizabeth Jacobson, age 38, of Bryant, SD, passed away on Monday, July 11, 2022, at their Watertown lake home.  Memorial services will be at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bryant, SD.  Pastor Colin Beveridge and Pastor Alan Blankenfeld will officiate.    A Celebration of Shannon’s Life will follow at the church from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

Shannon was born on December 29, 1983, in St. Louis, MO, to Dan and Deidre (Murphy) Ries.  She graduated from Ursuline Academy in St. Louis in 2002, and received a degree in education from Arizona State University in December of 2005.

On August 30, 2008, Shannon married Brad Jacobson at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, SD.  She taught in Sioux Falls for 3 years, until relocating to Bryant, SD.  She was teaching high school English for the last 7 years at Hamlin Education Center, as well as directing the high school plays.

Shannon was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.  She enjoyed traveling, reading, running and working out.  She treasured family time, spending summers at the lake, and long walks with the family dog, Olive.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Brad of Bryant, SD; children: Reese Elizabeth and Riley Grace, both of Bryant, SD; father, Dan Ries of St. Louis, MO; mother, Deidre Murphy and step-father, Fred Pugliano of St. Louis, MO; brother, Dominic Pugliano and sister, Nina Pugliano both of St. Louis, MO; paternal grandfather, Charlie “Papa” Ries of St. Louis, MO; father and mother-in-law, Lee and Jan Jacobson of Sioux Falls, SD; brother-in-law, Bret Jacobson of Sioux Falls, SD; and nephews: Logan and Sam Jacobson both of Sioux Falls, SD.

Shannon was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Marilyn Ries; and maternal grandparents, Dan and Darlene Murphy.

Memorials may be directed to Shannon Jacobson Memorial Scholarship, Bryant State Bank.
