Shirley Edna (Flindt) Lenz was born in De Smet, SD, on February 1, 1936, to Arthur and Edna (Anderson) Flindt.
She spent most of her youth in De Smet, graduating from De Smet High School in 1954. She moved to California, where she met and married Walter G. Lenz. They had three children: Linda, Karen, and Gary. Shirley moved back to De Smet with her children in 1970. Having several careers, she retired from Lyle Signs in 1998.
She enjoyed quilting, painting her “village”, numerous crafts, and Eastern Star where she held several offices at the state and local levels. Shirley enjoyed traveling and spending time with family. She loved to spoil her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
