What To Do
Carol J. Hanson, age 79, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at the Avera Pipestone Hospice House in Pipestone, MN. She was the widow of Alvin Hanson. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July, 26, 2019, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown. Pastor Mike Blank will officiate. The family is requested to meet at the chapel on Friday by 10:30 a.m. for a prayer service.
Visitation will be at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Friday at 10:00 a.m.
Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown. Honorary pallbearers will be Carol's grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Active pallbearers will be: Spencer Hastings, Skyler Hastings, Tony Block, Mitch Stickle and Scott Clark.
Carol was born on March 3, 1940, in South Shore, SD, to Edward and Emma (Kleveter) Selchert. She attended school in South Shore until the passing of her mother when she was 14 years old. Carol quit school to help out on the farm and later on went back and acquired her GED.
On May 31, 1958, Carol married Alvin Hanson in Goodwin, SD. Blessed to this union were four children. Carol ran a home daycare and considered herself a homemaker, but at heart she was a beautician. She loved baking, bowling, dancing, camping, pinochle card parties and taking trips with her sisters.
Carol is survived by her children: Kyle Hanson of Kansas City, MI, Kristine Hoag of Pipestone, MN, Kerri (Anthony) Leomiti of Pleasanton, CA; sisters: Dorothy Meyer of Watertown, SD, Myrtle Stickle of Watertown, SD, Darlene Harms of Iowa; 11 grandchildren: Valerie, Kenton, Kayla, Arissa, Aulani, Addison, AJ, Jayde, Brittney, Spencer and Skyler; 7 great grandchildren: Harlie, Noah, Dawson, Cashton, Oliver, Gracelyn and Cecilia.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband Alvin; son, Kenton; 2 brothers, Harold and George and 1 sister, MaryAnn.
