What To Do
Sharyl “Sharry” Leonard, age 70, of Watertown, SD, passed away on July 13, 2019, at a local care center. Memorial services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2019, at Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown. Rev. Scott Dempster will officiate. The family is requested to meet at the chapel on Saturday by 9:30 a.m. for a prayer service.
Visitation will be at the Crawford-Osthus Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Saturday, prior to services at the chapel.
Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown. Honorary urn bearers will be Sharry’s niece and nephews.
Sharry was born on March 20, 1949, in Watertown, SD, to E.C. and Helen (Batteen) Leonard. She was raised on a farm northwest of Watertown where she attended Lakeview District #3 country school and graduated from 8th grade. She attended Watertown Junior and Senior High School, graduating in 1967. Upon graduation, she attended and graduated from University of South Dakota (USD) in Vermillion with a degree in sociology with an emphasis in social work. Sharry worked as a social worker in Pierre in child protection services for a number of years. She then worked for the Department of Labor – Job Service in Watertown, SD, until her retirement in 2015.
She always enjoyed attending auctions and loved antiques, especially collecting glassware, art pottery, Victorian antiques and art. Sharry had an antique and collectibles shop in Watertown for a short period of time called Leonardo’s. She had a love of gardening and enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable garden. Sharry loved her cat Frankie, and took him everywhere.
Sharry is survived by sisters, Linda Adams of Lynn Haven FL, Diane Leonard of Watertown, SD; niece and nephews: James Leonard of Bentonville, AR, Colin Adams of Brooklyn, NY, Thomas Adams of Tallahassee, FL, Sarah Williams of Panama City, FL; great-nieces, Abigail Williams of Panama City, FL and Nova Adams of Brooklyn, NY.
She is preceded in death by her parents EC and Helen Leonard.
